Tell us how many boxes and then when we deliver them at the beginning of February, you'll pay us then. Pretty easy, huh? You can also use the form at the right and DONATE boxes to our local area shelters and the military serving our country.
$4/box due when we deliver, unless you are donating or want them mailed. We have to charge for shpping since the troop only makes $1/box.

Faithe and James are blessed in so many ways. They are both healthy, even though our peanut, James was born three weeks early. He's a healthy, sweet baby. Faithe was joined at the shower by members of her own family, including her grandmother. She has love and support, but it's still difficult being a single mom.
Members of troops 41129 and 40223 were so happy to pose with Faithe and James. Several troops from Service Unit 7 in Oregon and SW Washington donated to this event. Blankets, gifts, handmade cards
Faithe was hoping that more of the girls and women from her support group would have attended as she brought gifts for each of them. Yet, none of them made it to the event. We're told due to the circumstances surrounding some of the pregnancies, many of them are quite shy and a bit uncomfortable being the center of attention.
They were missed at the event but Nicole Hines from the Pregnancy Resource Center left with an SUV FILLED with gifts to share with the other clients the center serves. In all, about 40 moms will enjoy a few gifts including homemade blankets by various attendees and Girl Scout troops. Baby Banz also donated 20 pairs of quality sunglasses for children so they won't have those wavy, lenses. UV protection and style for baby!
20 Moms are receiving gifts from local businesses such as Icing Teeth Whitening Kits from Dr. Raymond Frye, Iron Butterflies: Women Transforming Themselves and the World signed by author, Birute Regime, a Binky Patrol t-shirt and other goodies donated by various neighbors.
One of the highlights was a game played by all: The Dice Game. This involved three pie tins, three pair of dice and a few wonderful prizes that you see at left. Notecards from Raquel Edwards, Icing Teeth Whitening kits, Iron Butterflies and vinegar and exquisite olive oil from Benessere in Portland. The tins were passed around, dice were rolled and prizes grabbed and swapped for a fast and furious 5 minutes filled with laughter. In the end, six attendees left with their prizes Each one was equally coveted by the rest of the group. Great ice breaker!
A huge thank you to Multnomah Presbyterian Church and Youth Pastor, Heather Hellman, for inviting us to host this event in their beautiful community room. Everything we needed was there and it as a beautiful setting surrounded by trees.
A more perfect venue could not have been found.
Thank you to all who attended, and especially to Faithe, James and their family for making it a perfect event.

During the summer our troop goes light. We barely see each other as a group, but couldn't pass up a hiking trip to the Historic Columbia Gorge waterfalls. We made the loop from Wahkeena Falls to Multnomah - the long way - up and around. It was a five mile loop. There was some whining and the girls complained a bit, too. I don't know who asked more on average, the adults or the girls, "Are we at the top yet?"
It was worth the challenge. The falls throughout and views were breathtaking. My daughter wants to go through it again, but in the heat of summer to be able to rock climb at the base of the falls. Sounds like a great day trip to me!
Tips:
Pack a lunch, make them carry their own. Shoes they can hike in and get into the water with worked best. Socks with sneakers - prevent those bloody blisters.
First aid stuff to bring: after bite, band aids for blisters at the back of your foot for those who fought you about wearing socks, quick sugar fix for when they are fading as you approach the top.
Take a snack and jump in the water break.
Bring a CAMERA! Don't miss it. Here's how you get there >>

This was a great adventure for the girls. They used some of their cookie money to pay for this outing to Tree-To-Tree Adventure Park in Gaston, OR. Not only did they gain confidence, but really helped each other learn new skills. Hearing them cheer each other on and laugh in the trees was the best gift for the parents who came along.
Plan to bring picnic lunch. We had each girl pack their own because we still have some picky eaters. They were able to go through the course six times each, including a bonus round that was all zip line throughout the course.
It was two hours - they filled it by going round and round through the course. We had 10 girls. It was a great amount, and we were glad we had four adults to help them as they would slide back on the zip line or need a bit of topping power before they did a George of the Jungle into a tree.

Our troop has taken a vote and we are going to visit our neighbors and ask them for their old sheets, towels and blankets. We'll be donating them to local area animal shelters. One of our troop members read about Operation Blankets of Love on the PetExpoUSA website. She saw the videos and decided to bring the idea to the troop.
We had many great ideas. The girls took a super-secret vote and this project won. This is part of their earning the Third Key on their Brownie Quest. Throughout the summer, they'll be taking time out each weekend to catch neighbors at home to ask them, "Will you please donate any old towels or blankets so we can help comfort animals in shelters.
You can learn a bit more about them here:
